Discover Uppsala During Your Stay

Your visit to Uppsala for the NTR Conference is also an opportunity to experience one of Sweden’s most historic and vibrant university cities. With its centuries-old academic traditions, beautiful green spaces and lively city centre, Uppsala offers plenty to discover within easy walking distance.
After the conference sessions, take a stroll along the Fyris River through the heart of the city, visit the impressive Uppsala Cathedral or explore the surroundings of Uppsala Castle and the Botanical Garden. You can also discover the legacy of the world-famous botanist Carl Linnaeus at the Linnaeus Garden, located just a short walk from the city centre.
Uppsala is a city that is easy to enjoy at a relaxed pace. Stop by one of its many cafés and experience the Swedish tradition of fika, explore the shops and historic streets of the city centre, or spend the evening discovering Uppsala’s restaurants and welcoming atmosphere.
On Thursday, we will visit Gamla Uppsala, once an important political and religious centre – and even described as a kind of ancient “conference venue”.
Curious to know more? Listen to Sveriges Radio’s podcast about the myths and history of Gamla Uppsala. (In Swedish)
For some relaxation, guests can book a visit to Selma City Spa at the hotel for a special conference rate of SEK 195 per person. Advance booking is required via selmacityspauppsala@strawberry.se. Please note that conference activities are scheduled for Thursday afternoon and evening, so we recommend booking your spa visit for another day.
Compact, green and easy to explore on foot, Uppsala combines centuries of history and academic tradition with the character of a modern Swedish city. We hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy the city and all it has to offer during your stay.
