No 1: The classification system
The classification system (NTR document 1) helps the end-user choose the right wood for the right purpose. The NTR classes are in line with the European standardization system and its different use classes in accordance with the European classification code. In practice the NTR classes are the ones known to the trade and end-users on the market.

No 2: The Approval system
The approval system is managed by an independent technical group consisting of experts from the Nordic technical institutes. The NTR documents (NTR document 2) define the requirements regarding the efficacy of the protection product and is aligned with the European BPR (Biocidal Product Regulatory) and the protection products are evaluated accordingly. The approval is based on thorough documentation on the durability in laboratory test as well as field trials according to the specified classification.

No 3: The quality control system. (Internal control and third party control)
The quality control system (NTR document 3) functions as a third-party control system run by independent control bodies located in all of the Nordic countries. They carry out controls based on the quality system (FPC) and the specific product quality directly at the production site.
